Prayerfully Dependent.

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

This year, and especially this semester, I have learned what it truly means to be dependent on the Lord. And to further that, I have realized that being faithful to Him means that I have to depend on Him and be prayerfully dependent.

To me, being prayerfully dependent is an evolving concept. I have realized the importance of asking God for help with everything, no matter how big or small. And if I want my prayers to be heard and answered, there has to be a faith in the Lord to back it up.

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” -- Matthew 21:22

This was definitely a new concept for me. I have always prayed to God in times of need. Lord help me get through this test. Or, Lord, be with so-and-so and heal their sickness. But God doesn’t want us to just pray when we need big things done. No, we are supposed to pray about everything, big and small!

I was on a run yesterday and it was one of the first few ones of the spring. Getting in shape is hard and I am definitely out of shape! It took everything in my power to get myself to get outside and run. Before I went, I just said a quick prayer that the Lord would get me through the next 45 minutes or so of running. I found myself several times throughout that time repeating the same prayer, and I found myself somehow with enough energy to make it through with minimal pain.

I was reminded then just how crucial it is to pray about everything. None of our thoughts or needs are too small that God can’t meet it, and they are never too small to be heard. Besides, if we can trust God with our smallest of prayers, He will multiply and give us bigger and more than we could ever ask for!

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” – Luke 16:10

I love the subtle nudges and reminders that God gives us about what it means to follow Him. I am so thankful I worship a God who sees every trial of ours as His concern and wants to meet us where we are, no matter the obstacle. And He will bring us through any obstacle He brings us too.

I hope that you can find peace in knowing that prayer through faith will result in God meeting our needs. Have faith that He can move mountains, and watch at the marvelous things God will do in your life!

Xoxo,

Kenzie
