Happy Wednesday! Hope you all are having a great week. We are halfway through, and just a few short days from the weekend so keep pushing through!
Today's post is a little different...I was thinking through the goals I had set for myself for 2017 and now that I am getting back into a routine here at school, I wanted to make sure that I am doing what I can to make my goals happen.
I know for a lot of people, a big goal is becoming a morning person. Especially in college, it can be hard to get up for those dreaded 8:30am classes (I have one this semester!!!) I use to love to stay up really late and sleep in late...but honestly since coming to college, I have really found a love for early mornings and seizing the day, if you will. So today, I wanted to share a few ways to help make mornings more bearable if you are trying to become a morning person!
1. Drink coffee.
It could be tea, coffee, hot lemon water, ice water, etc. But find something that wakes you up and helps you get excited to wake up. For me, drinking my morning coffee is something I love and always look forward to each morning! Not only does the caffeine give me a boost, but it makes me happy to drink it each morning.
2. Read a Devo.
I love starting my day with a little time for reading a devotional, my Bible, and spending a few minutes in prayer. It helps me to focus my day on the Lord and reminds me of my purpose. Even if its only a few minutes to read a verse or two, starting the day off with Jesus makes it that much better!
3. Eat breakfast.
This is an age-old tip, but it is definitely a huuuge help. Don't skip breakfast! Fueling up with something hearty and healthy will be to your benefit. Skip the granola bars and sugar-filled Pop-tarts and go for something that will keep you full all morning. I love to load up on protein in the mornings because it sticks with me longer so I don't need snacks throughout the day. I also use my breakfast time to catch up on social media and relax!
4. Start off slow.
I usually find that mornings are easier when I have enough time to relax. That usually means getting up earlier than I probably need to, but when I have time to sit and drink my coffee, read my Bible, do my makeup, and eat breakfast, I am not only more awake by the time I need to leave for work or class, but I am just in an all around better mood!
5. Prepare the night before.
One of the things I do that makes a world of difference is to get all of my things I need together the night before. I make sure I pack my lunch, get all of my things into my purse or backpack, and even lay out what I want to wear or my workout clothes for the next morning. This helps me to not be frantically running around my house searching for something that I need so my morning can go smoother. It also helps to go to bed earlier as you wake up earlier, and shut off your phone if its a temptation!

There you have it -- my five tips to a smoother morning! The best way to implement these are to gradually get up earlier and earlier and work these tips into your morning to create the best morning routine for you. I find that I need a routine and structure each morning and that relaxes me as well!
Thanks for reading, y'all! Hope you enjoyed this little bit of a different post :) Talk to you tomorrow.
